Welcome to a whole day conference to discuss new innovative healthcare solutions for East Africa!

The Embassies of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda from the East African Community (EAC) together with the Swedish East African Chamber of Commerce (SWEACC) have for the past five (5) years been organizing investment and business forums in Sweden. All forums are about business and investment growth between Sweden and East Africa. Some of the focus has been on Energy and Sustainable business, Agribusiness and Value added Agricultural Products but now we focus on ICT and Medtech. This year’s topic in Rwanda is Health and Growth!

The EAC-BIF 2018 (#eacbif18) will take place on 20th March 2018 in Kigali. Building on experiences from past forums, this year's forum focuses on emerging and more cross cutting subject of "ICT based Solutions" with focus on MedTech for health care systems. 

This years conference is a partnership between the Swedish-East Africa Chamber of Commerce (SWEACC) together with East African Community Embassies in Nordic; Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda and the Swecare Foundation. This year’s theme will be ”Health and Growth” with focus on Medtech and ICT. The objective of the Business and Investment Forum is to promote profitable investments and trade based on ICT technologies/products for managing healthcare.  Interesting solutions for healthcare such as new Medtech innovation and services (mobile) for better health will be on the agenda.

Participants from Sweden: The EAC Business and Investment Forum 2018 in Kigali will be part of the Delegation Trip arranged by Swecare and Business Sweden as they will organize a complete program covering both Rwanda and Uganda from March 19th to March 23rd, 2018. Each participant will have to take care of their own travel arrangements and accommodations in East Africa but Swecare have a complete delegation offer. Contact us for more information. 

The Aim of the Forum/Business Conference

The aim of the Forum is to promote successful investments and trade opportunities in ICT based technologies/products for better livelihood. The forum will give an opportunity for business to business (B2B), Government to Government (G2G) and Government to Business (G2B) meetings to take place.

Africa Business Summit

Rwanda's President Paul Kagame has been elected the new Chairperson for the African Union in 2018. Trade is important and what has happened now is that Rwanda will host a African Business Summit in the Kigali Convention Centre on the same day as the EAC Business & Investment Forum as the plan is to sign the CFTA (Continental Free Trade Area) in Rwanda that week.

The delegation from Sweden will take part at the African Business Summit and our delegation as well as conference participants will have the chance to participate in the morning part of the official program at the African Business in Rwanda.

The entire African continent's leader with Trade Ministers will be in Rwanda for signing the CFTA. This can be a great opportunity for you to network and meet decision makers in Africa. We think it may be of great interest to you as a company to show you for decision makers in Africa as well as attend our conference focusing on Digital Heathcare in East Africa.

All you need to know

The EAC Business & Investment Forum 2018 will be an afternoon conference that will focus on Healthcare and Growth in East Africa. The conference afternoon program is free of charge for all EAC Residents.

The EAC Business & Investment Forum 2018 will partly take place at the Gorillas Golf Hotels, KG 9 Avenue,  KG 274 Street in Nyarutarama, Kigali. Program start 14:30.

In Sweden, she was endeavoured to add value to start-ups in the medical ecosystem, based on my experience in establishing TrackMyBeat Healthcare in India. In DR Congo, she hwas worked to improve humanitarian aid delivery in conflict situations - both financial and logistical.

Jean-Philbert Nsengimana

Jean Philbert Nsengimana recently joined Smart Africa as a Special Advisor. He is a strong believer in the combined power of leadership, technology, innovation and inclusive partnerships to drive Africa’s digital transformation. 

Prior to Smart Africa, Nsengimana served as Cabinet Minister of Youth and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Government of Rwanda for 6 years. In that capacity, he spearheaded several flagship initiatives including TransformAfrica Summits and YouthConnekt Africa Initiative. He led the design and implementation of the Smart Rwanda Master Plan with policies on Broadband for all, Digital Literacy, Cybersecurity, Digital Health, Education, Governance, Trade, Finance and Innovation in the 4th Industrial Revolution. Nsengimana’s 15 years’ experience includes successful stints in the private sector, international development and academia where he started his career.
 
He holds an MBA from Singapore's SP Jain School of Global Business and a Master's of Science in Software Engineering from the University of Rwanda.

Agneta Karlsson is responsible for Health care, Public health and Sport in Sweden and leads the Swedish delegation now visiting Rwanda and Uganda. She graduated from Poppius School of Journalism and before that have degree in public administration, organisational theory, Stockholm University.

Agneta Karlsson started here public career as Political Adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office in Sweden and after that Secretary to Deputy Mayor, Stockholm City Council. She then was a Political Officer at the Swedish Trade Union Confederation. 

She as served both at the  Ministry of Education, Research and Culture and several assignments at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. From 2014–2017 as State Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Affairs for Minister Gabriel Wikström and now for the Minister for Health and Social Affairs, Annika Strandhäll.

Dr. Diane Gashumba

Dr. Diane Gashumba is the Rwandan Minister of Health of the Republic of Rwanda since October 4, 2016. From Mach 29, 2016, she served as the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, she is a paediatrician by profession bringing 17 years’ experience in global maternal, new-born and child health with focus to gender issues. She has a strong management and clinical experience especially in managing maternal, new born and child health programs. Minister Gashumba is also the former President of the National Women Council, she is bringing a strong experience in empowering women through initiation of income generating activities, Gender related policy elaboration such as the Gender based violence policy, the Early childhood development policy, the sexual, adolescent and reproductive health policy among others.
